By purchasing fresh from our farm, you support your local community and have the security of knowing how your food is raised and produced. .
Our farming practices ensure that the food we produce for you (and our own family) is wholesome and nutritious without the worry of added antibiotics and chemicals. The excellent health of our birds provide you with the best possible foods. Pastured poultry is leaner, studies have shown that eggs from free range chickens are more nutritious, and both just plain look and taste better!
We provide all our birds with plenty of clean water, fresh air, sunshine and nutritious grains. Many people ask us what kind of grains we feed our birds. We strongly believe in supporting local farms and neighbors, so we purchase all our grains from a nearby feed mill. Feeding poultry is no simple matter. We work with a professional feed consultant that custom mixes feed to our specifications. Our feed is all vegetarian with no animal by-products.
Our water comes from a deep well which is tested once per year for disease-causing bacteria. We want to make sure that our birds are getting clean, fresh water at all times.
Customers also ask us about "free range". Our chickens enjoy four different areas inside the coop and out: a brightly lit (lights and windows) flat surface so they can eat and socialize, a quiet place to lay their eggs, a place to roost at night to catch their "z's", and if they desire, they can to go outside to roam, dust-bathe, forage for bugs and greens or just hang out in a pasture reserved especially for them.
We protect our birds from bio-security risks by frequent hand washing, a foot bath for boots worn only in the coop, humane rodent and varmint control, a fenced-in spacious pasture for predator control and protective clothing for any visitors inside the coop or pasture area. As you can see we value the health of our birds!!
And we value our relationships with our customers. Many long time customers have become friends. In fact, many customers will come to us with information on various poultry breeds or farm management ideas. We are always open to your suggestions. Truly it is a win-win situation for all of us.
